Can Anybody Stop Oregon in the Pac-10?

While many conferences have intriguing title battles that are likely to go down to the wire, in the Pac-10 that doesn’t seem likely to be the case. While it is a very good conference, probably the second best in college football, one team seems to have run away with the race. That would be Oregon, who is currently looking like a possible to play in the national title game. Can the Ducks, who Sportsbook has at even money to win the BCS Championship, be knocked off? They will need to lose at least two games for this to happen, since they have already beaten Stanford. They end the season with a game at home against Arizona and a game on the road against Oregon State. If they were playing the Wildcats on the road, the odds of them losing would be better. At home, however, it seems unlikely. Plus, while Read More

Volunteers take on Panthers

The Tennessee Volunteer basketball team plays the Pittsburgh Panthers in the 2010 Direct TV SEC/Big East Invitational this Saturday at 3:15pm EST. Both teams enter the game with undefeated records. Tennessee sports a 6-0 record while Pittsburgh has started out with ten consecutive victories. This battle of highly ranked teams should be a great game to watch. The Volunteers have beaten a Big East opponent already this season when the defeated the Villanova Wildcats by ten points on November 26th. Their average margin of victory so far this season is just over eleven points. Winning over Villanova has been the only quality opponent they have played. The trio of Tobias Harris, Scotty Hopson and Cameron Tatum lead the way for the Volunteers. Harris is a freshman and Hopson and Tatum are juniors. Harris is dropping in 16.7 points and bringing down 5.8 rebounds per game. Hopson contributes 16.3 points per Read More

Annual Army Navy Game

The annual Army versus Navy football game is considered to be one of the better rivalry games in college football. The Midshipmen have won eight straight of these games by an average of twenty seven points. Both Army and Navy have had successful seasons and will be playing in bowl games. Army will be playing against Southern Methodist University in the 2010 Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl at 11am CST on December 30th. ESPN will be televising the game. Navy will be playing in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl against San Diego State at 7pm CST and will also be shown by ESPN. Army has a 6-5 record and will be playing in a bowl game for the first time since the 1996 Independence Bowl. They lost by three points to Auburn in that game. The Black Knights have a long football history dating back to 1890 Read More

Tennessee Vs Indianapolis

Indianapolis is coming off a 3 game losing streak and the Payton Manning we are used to seeing seems to have disappeared. They have a big game coming up against a tough group of Tennessee Titans, who have come off a 5 game losing streak. The big difference in this game is the Titans are playing for their honor to save an almost lost season while the Colts are trying to find their rhythm again after being beaten 3 times straight. The Titans, although coming in with a losing season, have more than a fighting chance to beat the Colts, while the Colts are still trying to find the reason for the bad plays they’ve been showing. Payton Manning throwing 10+ interceptions in the last 3 games. Even with the Titans being the underdog in this game i see them kicking the horse while its still down. The Titans have Read More

Saints play host to Rams

The New Orleans Saints have won five straight games. The St. Louis Rams are ending a three game road trip with this game against the Saints Sunday. They have won the first two games of the road stretch. New Orleans trails the Atlanta Falcons by one game in the NFC South Division. This game is one they should win convincingly. Two straight road victories have been by a combined total of seven points. Both wins were secured in the last minute of the games. These final four games of the season look to be a really tough stretch and this game against the Rams is the easiest of the four. The young Rams have been a surprise this season. Their rookie of the year front runner, quarterback Sam Bradford, has led his team to a tie atop the NFC West Division. They have a 6-6 record and so do the Read More

Who Will Win the Big Ten?

The Big Ten title race is very interesting this year, and is getting a lot of attention at Sportsbook.  Incidentally, it isn’t likely to end with a single winner.  Unless an upset is pulled off somewhere, it is likely to be a three way tie atop the conference.  The team with the highest ranking in the BCS will get the automatic berth into a BCS game, but as far as the league title goes, it will be a tie. The main reason for this is that two of the contenders, Michigan State and Ohio State, do not play one another this season.  That really throws the proverbial monkey wrench into the works.  The other two contending teams are Iowa and Wisconsin.  Wisconsin beat Ohio State, but lost to Michigan State.  Michigan State beat Wisconsin, but lost to Iowa.  However, Iowa lost to Wisconsin.  As it currently stands, Michigan State and Read More

Denver Broncos vs Arizona Cardinals (Lock Pick of the Week)

This week the Denver Broncos (3-9) take on the equally stagnant Arizona Cardinals (3-9) in Phoenix. Denver has dominated the past four matchups between the two teams, winning all four games by scores of 37-20, 37-7, 38-17, and 38-6. The Broncos are coming off a tough loss to the Chiefs in a game which saw the Broncos offense struggle to put up points, only tallying 6 points on two Field Goals. Denver’s lone bright spot was Knowshon Moreno rushing for 161 yards on 23 carries. Arizona also struggled in a home loss to the Rams. Sam Bradford and Steven Jackson proved too much for Arizona’s defense who allowed 17 points, in a 17-6 loss. On paper, this match up looks like two below average teams facing off in a game that means nothing. But Tuesday’s newspaper shows Broncos Head Coach Josh McDaniels was fired Monday. Interim Coach Eric Studesville, will Read More

Horse Racing in North America

Horse racing in North America differs from such events held in some other parts of the world.  Yes, the horses still race and bets can still be placed, but the types of bets placed in America compared to Europe can be different.  It is worth keeping that in mind if you fancy a wager while on holiday in the U.S.  Check out the differences before you gamble is good advice. The styles of the races are also different and the length of the courses can vary greatly.  The race courses have no jumps and the track itself is oval.  Horse racing in America is all about the speed and the stamina of the horse rather than its skill at jumping over hurdles and fences as in many parts of the world.  These flat courses have a dirt, synthetic or grass surface, varying in length between 5 furlongs and 1.5 miles. Indianapolis Colts v Tennessee Titans

This week’s Thursday Night Football Game pits the Indianapolis Colts against the Tennessee Titans in a match-up of two AFC South foes. The winner of this game still has a chance in that division. The loser is all but certain to miss the playoffs. For the Colts, it would be the first time they missed the playoffs since 2001. The current line for this game on Sportsbook.com has the Colts favored by 3 points (-105) and a total of 46.5. I think the Colts are a great play here. In terms of betting the Colts, this team is simply too good to continue to lose games. Yes, they have their fair share of injuries. But they should be getting some help back for this game against the Titans. Austin Collie is expected to be active for the game, while starting running back Joseph Addai is questionable to play. Additionally, Indianapolis Read More
