Inside Predictions: Georgia Bulldogs host the Alabama Crimson Tide

This Saturday October 3, the Crimson Tide travel to Athens to take on the Bulldogs. This will -no doubt- be one of the more watched NCAA games this weekend, this and, of course, the Notre Dame Clemson game. More than 600 media credentials will be issued to writers, photographers, scouts, and other members of the press and football community. This is by far the biggest SEC game of the year.  Kickoff at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia is scheduled to take place at 3:30 PM Eastern Time. With such a big game on our hands it is not surprising CBS will be broadcasting the game nationwide.

The #8 Georgia Bulldogs are 4-0 and first in the Eastern Division. Whereas the #13 Crimson Tide are 3-1, and 5th in the Western Division. Both teams are eager to meet and very equally matched.

The Bulldogs are dealing with a bit of a problem off the field. Isaiah McKenzie, receiver and kick returner, got into a bit of an altercation at a Chili’s restaurant near the Georgia campus. According to the incident report, McKenzie, during an argument with a female guest at the establishment wen on something like… “he [McKenzie] was going to call some friends and they were going to come out and he was going to kill her“. Now, the woman has decided not to press charges, but coach Mark Richt has said the Bulldogs will handle the situation internally. Whether that means McKenzie plays on Saturday we don’t know.

What we DO know is that McKenzie is a great player. So far this season he has made five catches for 89 yards and is currently ranked fourth in the SEC. As for his punt returning, he has an average of 14.5 yards per return and he’s returned four kicks for touchdowns in his career. With stats like those, it becomes difficult to see why he would jeopardize all he has going for him.

The Crimson Tide will be looking to prove that they are in fact the dominant team the say they are, despite a horrid loss to Ole Miss a couple weeks back. Georgia is very much eager to beat the Tide to prove they are the team to beat in the SEC.

Both teams have superb coaches who know how to win games. They will both be coming into this one ready to lay it all down. This could be the game that sets some players up on the fast track to the NFL. With so much going on in this game, and so much riding on, this match will surely deliver! College football fans who don’t normally follow the SEC will be very happy to watch this game. Big plays, All-star lineups and an incredible fan base are just a couple reasons to tune up.

Both teams have excellent running games. This will add to the awesomeness of this game. I’d say: look out for running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel for Georgia and, definitely keep your eyes on Henry and Kenyan Drake for the Tide. These kids are the pinnacle of college running backs.

My Prediction: The Crimson Tide upset the Bulldogs, who aren’t able to cover their -2 point spread. The game comes down to the last 2 minutes, but Alabama wins by a field goal at the very end.
