2015 NFL Preview Week 4 – Three Games for Sports Bettors

The 2015 NFL season is now in its fourth week and there are plenty of divisional contests scheduled. There are three NFL games that we like this weekend. In this article, we’re going to preview the Sunday morning game being played in London between the New York Jets (2-1) and Miami Dolphins (1-2), the contest between the Philadelphia Eagles (1-2) and Washington Redskins (1-2), and the Monday Night Football matchup featuring the Detroit Lions (0-3) and Seattle Seahawks (1-2).

Jets vs. Dolphins

At this point, you can get this game at even odds or with the Jets at minus 1. The over/under is at 42.5. New York has a solid running game and a sound defense. Chris Ivory, who is averaging 4.4 yards per rush, leads the team’s running game. Ivory has run for 2 TDs, and has accumulated 148 yards total. Plus there’s RB Bilal Powell with a total of 131 yards. He’s averaging 3.9 yards per carry.

QB Ryan Tannehill leads the Miami offense. Tannehill has had his ups and downs this season and is plagued by inconsistency. But he does have some fine receivers, including Rishard Matthews who has 3 TDs on 16 catches and is averaging 16.4 YPC and TE Jordan Cameron who has been a solid receiver making 10 catches for 151 yards. The Dolphin ground attack is lacking.

This contest very well may come down to the New York running game as well as their solid defense. New York is allowing opponents 13.7 points per game, while Miami is giving up 24.7. Take the Jets in this game and the under.

Eagles vs. Redskins

In this contest, the Eagles are favored by 3 points and the over/under sits at 43.5. Although Philadelphia has had trouble scoring, they do have some decent offensive weapons including the versatile Darren Sproles. Sproles is an adept running back, pass catcher, and kick returner. The big concern for Philly is QB Sam Bradford who has not performed well.

The same can be said of Washington’s QB Kirk Cousins who, like Bradford, has been plagued by interceptions this season. He does have some quality receivers. The strength on offense for the Skins is their running game. The rushing tandem of Alfred Morris and Matt Jones has been very productive. Morris has run for 199 yards on 49 carries and is averaging 4.1 YPA. Jones, who has certainly impressed, has totaled 189 yards on 36 rushes for 5.3 YPA. Each player has notched one touchdown. However, Jones has had trouble handling the ball. He’s fumbled twice and lost both.

The Philadelphia defense is quite strong especially when it comes to forcing fumbles and taking down picks. If the Eagles can use Sproles effectively on offense and, also, get some big plays from their defense, they can beat the spread. Also, the under is a sound bet on this game.

Lions vs. Seahawks

Detroit travels to Seattle looking for their first win. However, it’s doubtful they will find it in Washington State on Monday night. They come to Seattle averaging just 18.7 PPG and allowing 27.7. On the other hand, the Seahawks are averaging 24.7 PPG and giving up 20.3.

The Lion offensive line is weak, exposing QB Matthew Stafford to the blitz and undermining the running game. Stafford has some fine receivers, but will need time to get the ball to them. On the other hand, Seattle’s Russell Wilson, who has posted some strong numbers, has had success as of late.

He’s got some very good pass catchers, which include TE Jimmy Graham and WR Doug Baldwin. Graham has brought in 14 catches for a total of 147 yards and 2 TDs, while Baldwin has handled 17 catches, garnering 162 yards and 1 TD. Plus, the Hawks have one of the best running backs in the game in Marshawn Lynch.

The good news is you can still get Seattle at minus 9.5 at some books. Take them in this one. This game has the potential to be very one sided. We like the under at 43. Go with it and lots of luck this weekend!
