NBA schedule and results: Blazers-Raptors and Wizards-Mavericks headline a loaded schedule

It should be a good night in the NBA with several intriguing matchups. The Grizzlies hosting the Spurs, the Wizards traveling to Dallas and Blazers taking the the Raptors are among the best games. That’s on top of the Bulls trying to make it eight wins in a row. The Cavs will play the Hawks, but will have to do so without LeBron James who is out with knee soreness.

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James will not play on Tuesday against the Atlanta Hawks due to knee soreness, according to Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. James was listed as questionable leading into the game and will sit out for the second time this season.

The only other game James has missed this season was also due to knee soreness as he did not play against Oklahoma City on Dec. 11. James has been dealing with some lingering leg issues recently after he ran into some seats on Christmas Day. He briefly left that game with leg tightness, but has been able to play through any issues in the two games since. James is coming off a down game when he shot just 5-of-19 in a loss to Detroit on Sunday.

While the Cavaliers will be forced to take on the Hawks without James, it doesn’t appear the injury will be a concern all season. The Cavaliers will get Kyrie Irving back in the lineup after he sat out the previous two games with a bone bruise. Irving and Kevin Love will likely play bigger roles with James out while Dion Waiters may also be called upon to pick up some of the scoring slack. Waiters scored 14 points the last time James sat out.

James leads the Cavaliers in scoring and assists at 25.2 and 7.6 per game.
