Oakland Athletics vs. Los Angeles Angels

The Oakland A’s and the Los Angeles Angels face off on Monday in Oakland for game one of their series in the A.L. West. The Athletics are -140 favorites over the Angels with an over/under run total set at 7.5.
The Oakland A’s have pulled away in the American League West and with just two weeks left in the season the A’s look to be in solid shape. The A’s are 8-2 in their last 10 games, 47-27 at home this season, and they are a 6.5 game lead over the Rangers. As a team the A’s are hitting .252 with Josh Donaldson hitting .302, Jed Lowrie hitting .284, and Coco Crisp hitting .256. For game one against the Angels the A’s start Sonny Gray who is 3-3 with a 2.62 ERA for the season and 2-1 with a 1.83 ERA in his last three starts.
The Los Angeles Angels have had a horrible season but if they can finish with a flurry they can end up with a winning record. The Angels are 7-3 in their last 10 games, 37-37 on the road this season, and they are five games under .500. As a team the Angels are hitting .267 with Mike Trout hitting .330, Howie Kendrick hitting .301, and J.B. Shuck hitting .294. For Monday’s game the Angels start C.J. Wilson who is 16-6 with a 3.44 ERA on the season and 3-0 with a 4.12 ERA in his last three starts.
Oakland is 17-5 in their last 22 games, 6-0 against the A.L. West, and 38-17 in their last 54 home games. Los Angeles is 10-1 on the road against a right-handed starter, 7-2 in their last nine games as an underdog, and 5-0 in Wilson’s last five road starts. Los Angeles is 1-4 in the last five meetings of these two.
Wilson has been hot and as bad as the Angels have been at times, Wilson has been solid and I look for him to come through again here.
