Miami Dolphins vs. Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons travel to Sun Life Stadium to take the field with the unbeaten Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins are -1 point favorites over the Falcons with an over/under point total set at 43.
After dropping their opener to the New Orleans Saints the Falcons rebounded to hand the Rams a tight 31-24 loss. The preseason favorite by many to win the NFC South has been one dimensional offensively thus far with a pass heavy attack while the defense has struggled to stop the pass. The Falcons rushing attack was dealt a blow when Steven Jackson injured his thigh after three carries and didn’t play again. That left Matt Ryan and the receiving corps to carry the load and that wasn’t a bad way to go with Ryan throwing for 374 yards and a pair of touchdowns with Julio Jones posting eleven receptions for 182 yards including an 81 yard TD. The defense had their hands full with Sam Bradford who burned the Falcons secondary for 352 yards and three scores but threw pick six.

When I look at Miami I believe the team wasn’t given a lot of ink heading in to 2013 with the Patriots grabbing most of the press followed by the circus act we call the Jets. In other words the Dolphins might have been flying under the radar a bit but perhaps not as much now after a 24-20 win at Indianapolis gave the Fins a 2-0 start with both wins coming on the road. Miami showed some pop through the air with Ryan Tannehill completing 23-34 for 319 yard and an 18 yard touchdown and no interceptions. Lamar Miller gave the team 69 yards on 14 carries and a trip to the end zone for some respectability on the ground but the air is where Miami produced. Mike Wallace caught nine passes for 115 yards followed by Charles Clay with a five catch 109 yard afternoon including a 67 yarder. The defense survived 321 yards from Andrew Luck by forcing the Colts to attempt three field goal attempts instead of three PAT’s.

Atlanta obviously is loaded and will be the public darling here but I believe Miami is better than what most people think and will be over looked here. They certainly can lose but I believe they come to play here in their home opener
