Florida Gators vs. Tennessee Volunteers

The Florida Gators and the Tennessee Volunteers face off on Saturday in the Swamp in a SEC college football rivalry game. The Gators are -17.5 point favorites over the Volunteers.
The Florida Gators had a week off to lick their wounds after they fell to in state rivals Miami in their last game. The Gators dominated much of the game against Miami but turnover after turnover thwarted Florida dives and in the end there just wasn’t enough time left in the game to make up for it. After two games QB Jeff Driskel has completed about 71 percent of his passes for 444 yards and two touchdowns but he has also thrown two costly interceptions. Matt Jones saw hos first action of the year against Miami rushing for 52 tough yards while Mack Brown has rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns in two games. Try Burton leads the UF receivers with 11 catches, Quinton Dunbar has nine, and Solomon Patton has seven. The Florida defense is allowing just 50 rushing yards per game and 158.5 passing yards with two interceptions and three sacks. Micahel Taylor has eight tackles, Cody Riggs has six tackles, and Leon Orr has six tackles as the Gator defense just doesn’t spend a lot of time on the field. Florida has had two weeks to sit with the Miami loss and they should be ready to go for this one.
The Tennessee Volunteers looked to be off to a solid starting Oregon last week until the Ducks got the ball and then the rout was on as the Vols lost 59-14. While the loss was as ugly as the score, Tennessee knows there are better days ahead and they are still 2-1 as they head to Gainesville. QB Justin Worley has completed 61.4 percent of his passes for 372 yards and five touchdowns with just one interception. Rajeon Neal is averaging 6.0 yards per carry with four touchdowns and Marlin Lane is averaging 5.7 yards per carry with three touchdowns. Marquez North leads Tennessee with eight catches and Josh Smith has five. Defensively the Tennessee defense has come up with seven interceptions, six sacks and two fumbles but after last week it doesn’t look too pretty in the yards allowed department. A.J. Johnson leads UT with 17 tackles, Brian Randolph has 14 tackles and two interceptions, and LaDarrell McNeil has 13 tackles. Tennessee will need to put last week in the rear view mirror.
Florida is 6-2 against the spread in their last eight SEC games, 1-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-7 against the spread in their last eight home games. Tennessee is 4-10 against the spread in their last 14 games overall, 2-5 against the spread following a loss, and 4-11-1 against the spread in their last 16 SEC games. The road team is 4-0-1 against the spread in the last five meetings of these two.
The Florida defense is very good and the Tennessee defense was just shredded last week but I don’t think the Florida offense is capable of rolling it up on the Vols so with this generous number I am going to take the points.

Tennessee Volunteers +17.5 Florida Gators
