Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Ole Miss Rebels

The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Ole Miss Rebels face off on Saturday in Tuscaloosa in a battle of unbeaten and ranked SEC teams. The Crimson Tide are -16.5 point favorites over the Rebels with an over/under point total set at 57.5.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are unbeaten and ranked number one in the nation and while it is tough to do much better than that the Tide haven’t looked invincible. QB A.J. McCarron has completed 64.1 percent of his passes for six touchdowns and two interceptions as Alabama is averaging just under 239 yards per game passing. T.J. Yeldon is averaging .56 yards per carry with two touchdowns, Kenyan Drake has two rushing touchdowns, and Jalston Fowler has seen limited action. Christion Jones leads Alabama 12 catches and a touchdown, DeAndrew White has eight catches and two touchdowns, and Amari Cooper and O.J. Howard have six catches each. The Alabama defense is allowing 19.3 points per game, 373 yards with three interceptions, three sacks, and a fumble recovery. C.J. Mosley has 28 tackles, Landon Collins has 16 tackles, and Vinnie Sunsieri has two interceptions. Neither the Alabama offense nor the Alabama defense looks to be in form but so far they have been good enough.
The Ole Miss Rebels have started the season 3-0 and they have had a week off to prepare for this monster opportunity to make their mark on the college football scene this season. QB Bo Wallace has played within himself completing 64.4 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and no interceptions and he has run for 120 yards and three touchdowns. Jeff Scott is averaging 9.4 yards per carry with two touchdowns and Jaylen Walton is averaging 3.8 yards per carry with a touchdown. Laquon Treadwell is Ole Miss’s leading receiver with 16 catches and Evan Engram and Donte Moncrief have 11 catches and two touchdowns each. The Rebels defense is allowing 23.7 points per game and 332.7 yards per game with three interceptions, four sacks, and two fumble recoveries. Robert Nkemdiche is the high profile player of the Ole Miss defense with four tackles for a loss but Serderius Bryant has 26 tackles, Cody Prewitt has 18 tackles, and Mike Hilton has 16 tackles. Ole Miss will need to play a near perfect game if they hope to take down the Tide in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama is 2-6 against the spread in their last eight home games, 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 15-7 against the spread following a win of 20 or more points. Ole Miss is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven road games, 7-2 against the spread in their last nine SEC games, and 13-6 against the spread in their last 19 road games against a team with a winning home record. The road team has covered the point spread in the last five meetings of these two.
This is simply too many points and while I believe Ole Miss can pull the upset here, a better number for this game is in the eight or nine range so getting this many is a take all the way.
