Carolina Panthers vs. Oakland Raiders

The Carolina Panthers and the Oakland Raiders face off on Saturday in Charlotte in an NFL game with little at stake as far as the post season. The Panthers are -9.5 point favorites over the Raiders with an over/under point total set at 45.5.
The Carolina Panthers have been playing solid football for most of the year but up until recently they had been a play or two away from pulling off some big wins. Carolina has been closing out games in recent weeks but it will just need to serve as experience for next year this season has already gotten away from them. Cam Newton has completed 58.2 percent of his passes for 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while being sacked 33 times. DeAngelo Williams has averaged just 3.6 yards per carry gaining 508 yards, Jonathan Stewart is averaging 3.6 yards per carry, and Mike Tolbert has four rushing touchdowns and 26 catches out of the backfield. Steve Smith has 66 catches, Greg Olsen has 59 catches and five touchdowns, and Brandon LaFell has 34 catches. The Panthers defense allows 22.8 points, 117.9 rushing yards, and 217.7 passing yards with nine interceptions and 36 sacks. Luke Keuchly has 138 tackles, Thomas Davis has 91 tackles, Greg hardy has 11 sacks, and Charles Johnson has 10.5 sacks. The Panthers are just a few plays away from having a much better record but they failed to make a few plays over the course of the year and they are paying for them.
The Oakland Raiders look to be lost as they continue to slide in the standings and are headed to another losing season. It has been another diagram for ineptitude in Oakland as when the Raiders haven’t been busy shooting themselves in the foot they are being manhandled by opponents who are simply better than they are. Carson Palmer has completed 60.9 percent of his passes with 22 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while being sacked 26 times. Darren McFadden is averaging 3.4 yards per carry and he has caught 37 passes out of the backfield but it has been another injury plagued season for the Raiders best player. Brandon Myers has 72 catches and four touchdowns, Marcel Reece has 48 catches, and Denarius Moore has 47 catches and six touchdowns. Defensively the Raiders allow 28.7 points per game, 122.5 rushing yards, and 248.3 passing yards with 10 interceptions and 21 sacks. Phillip Wheeler has 104 tackles, Tyvon Branch has 92 tackles, and Miles Burris as 82 tackles. The Raiders have failed to rush the passer and the entire defense has paid the price for it.
Carolina is 7-2 against a tea with a losing record, 1-4 against the spread following a win, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six home games. Oakland is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven road games against a team with a losing home record, 1-4 against the spread following a win, and 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games overall.
The line is pretty big here with the Panthers laying more than a touchdown but the Raiders are that bad and the Panthers overall record is that deceiving.
