Oklahoma St. Cowboys vs. West Virginia Mountaineers

The Oklahoma State Cowboys and the West Virginia Mountaineers face off on Saturday in Stillwater in Big 12 college football action as they both attempt to get back to winning.  The Cowboys are -7.5 point favorites over the Mountaineers.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys aren’t the powerhouse they were a season ago but they are a team that is headed to a decent bowl game and can compete with just about anyone. QB Wes Lunt was knocked out of last game at KSU with a concussion and he was replaced by Clint Chelf who has completed 57.1 percent of his passes with two touchdowns and two interceptions in limited action as he is the third QB on the depth chart. Joseph Randle had a rough day last week but for the season he is averaging 5.3 yards with nine touchdowns, Desmond Roland is averaging 6.6 yards per carry with four touchdowns, and Jeremy Smith averages 4.8 yards per carry with five touchdowns. Josh Stewart has 56 catches and three touchdowns, Charlie Moore has 28 catches and four touchdowns, and Blake Jackson has 24 catches. Defensively OSU allows 25.8 points per game, 135.6 rushing yards, and 241.9 passing yards with six interceptions and 15 sacks. Alex Elkins has 43 tackles, Daytawion Lowe has 39 tackles, and Shamiel Gary has 37.5 tackles. The status of Lunt is still unknown at this time.

The West Virginia Mountaineers have gone from a team that looked unstoppable and unbeatable to a team on a losing streak in just a matter of weeks. Geno Smith may no longer be a top Heisman Trophy candidate but he still has big numbers completing 72 percent of his passes with 29 touchdowns and three interceptions. Andrew Buie handles the bulk of the WVU running game averaging 4.7 yards per carry with five touchdowns and also catching 24 passes out of the backfield. Tavon Austin has 85 catches and 10 touchdowns, Stedman Bailey has 61 catches and 15 touchdowns, and J.D. Woods has 42 catches and three touchdowns. The West Virginia defense has been awful allowing 39.8 points per game, 132.5 rushing yards, and 351.9 passing yards with six interceptions and 19 sacks. Isaiah Bruce has 75 tackles, Karl Joseph has 61 tackles, and Terence Garvin has 48 tackles and four sacks. West Virginia has the offensive firepower to shoot it out with most teams but not being able to stop the opposition has clearly cost them big opportunities this season both as a team an individually.

Oklahoma State is 4-1 against the spread following a loss, 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 home games, and 13-6 against the spread in their last 19 Big 12 games. West Virginia is 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 road games, 1-6 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games overall.

I like the Cowboys to get the win and cover in this one late.
