Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings

The Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings meet on Sunday at Lambeau Field in a NFL NFC North match up. The Packers are -9 point favorites over the Vikings with an over/under point total set at 47.
The Green Bay Packers looked to be hitting full speed but they ran into a wall on Sunday as they were pounded by the Giants in New York. It looked to be a combination of accumulating injuries and a motivated Giants team that were the Packers undoing but they look to bounce back in a big way here. Aaron Rodgers has completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 28 touchdowns and seven interceptions while being sacked 37 times. It has been a revolving door in the Packers backfield but currently it is James Starks who is averaging 3.4 yards per carry and Alex Green who is averaging just 3.1 yards per carry. Randall Cobb has 58 catches and seven touchdowns, Jordy Nelson has 45 catches and six touchdowns, and James Jones has 42 catches and eight touchdowns. Defensively Green Bay is allowing 22.3 points per game, 103.8 rushing yards, and 244.3 passing yards with 12 interceptions and 34 sacks. A.J. Hawk has 86 tackles, Morgan Burnett has 85 tackles, and Tramon Williams has 48 tackles. With their loss on Sunday the Packers fell to second place in the NFC North.
The Minnesota Vikings are having a rebuilding year but they aren’t out of the playoff race at all and a win here would go a long way in helping their cause. The Vikings were drafting near the top last season and while the expectations were modest the Vikings have been more than just competitive this season. Christian Ponder has completed 63.5 percent of his passes with 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions while being sacked 27 times. Adrian Peterson has had a monster year when many thought he wouldn’t play at all this season as he is averaging 5.8 yards per carry with seven touchdowns and 1,236 rushing yards and 35 receptions out of the backfield. Percy Harvin missed last game and is questionable in this one but he has 62 catches and three touchdowns, Kyle Rudolph has 39 catches and seven touchdowns, and Michael Jenkins has 30 catches. Defensively the Vikings allow 22.6 points, 111.7 rushing yards, and 224.9 passing yards with six interceptions and 27 sacks. Chad Greenway has 107 tackles, Antoine Winfield has 81 tackles, and Jared Allen has seven sacks. With a win in this spot the Vikings would be tied with the Packers in the standings.
Green Bay is 12-2 against the spread following a game which they didn’t cover the spread, 7-1 against the spread following a loss, and 20-8 against the spread against the NFC North. Minnesota is 4-9-1 against the spread against the NFC North, 4-12-3 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-4-1 against the spread in their last six games overall. The favorite has covered in seven of the last 10 meetings of these two.
This seems to be a lot of points for a divisional game and look for the Vikings to at least keep it closer than the spread and possibly even more in a game that could come right down to the end.
