Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers

The Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers battle it out on Sunday in a key NFL game in the NFC North. The Packers are -3.5 point favorites over the Lions with an over/under total set at 51.
The Detroit Lions are in last place in the NFC North but in the competitive and tightly packed division they are far from out of it. Matthew Stafford has completed 63.9 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions while being sacked 17 times. Mikel Leshoure is healthy this year and he is averaging 4.0 yards per carry with four rushing touchdowns and he has 21 catches out of the backfield. Calvin John has 60 catches and two touchdowns, Brandon Pettigrew has 42 catches and two touchdowns, and Titus Young has 32 catches and four touchdowns. Defensively the Lions allow 24.7 points per game, 115.4 rushing yards, and 214.2 passing yards with five interceptions and 19 sacks. Justin Durant has 67 tackles, Stephen Tulloch has 53 tackles, and Cliff Avril has 4.5 sacks. The Lions have a minus four turnover ratio something that if they turn around can turn around their season.
The Green Bay Packers are in second place in the NFC North, just a game behind the Chicago Bears with plenty of football left to be played. Aaron Rodgers has been on a roll completing 67 percent of his passes with 25 touchdowns and five interceptions. The Packers running game is still struggling with Alex Green averaging 3.1 yards per carry. Randall Cobb is Green Bay’s leading receiver with 45 catches and six touchdowns, Jordy Nelson has 40 catches and five touchdowns, and James Jones has 40 catches and eight touchdowns. Defensively the Packers allow 20.8 points per game, 98.3 rushing yards, and 243.6 passing yards with 10 interceptions and 28 sacks. Morgan Burnett has 67 tackles, A.J. Hawk has 66 tackles, Clay Matthews has nine sacks, and Casey Heyward has four interceptions. The Packers started the season slow but are now looking like they are serious contenders to win it all.
Detroit is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall, 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games following a loss, and 1-6 against the spread against the NFC North. Green Bay is 5-0 against the spread against the NFC North, 0-5 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 2-5 against the spread following a win. Green Bay has covered in five of the last six meetings of these two in Detroit.
This is a divisional team with a home underdog getting more than a field goal and the better play here is to take the points. This one should be a real battle with the Lions playing for essentially their playoff lives while the Packers want the division title.
