NY Giants vs. Washington Redskins

The New York Giants and the Washington Redskins face off on Sunday in an NFL NFC East rivalry game.  The Giants are -7 point favorites over the Redskins with an over/under point total set at 48.5.

The New York Giants are coming off of their most impressive win of the year going on the road and blowing out the San Francisco 49ers in a game that was worse than the 23 points than the Giants won by on the scoreboard. Eli Manning looks like a man on a mission this year as he has completed 63.6 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions while being sacked four times. Ahmad Bradshaw is running with authority for 4.9 yards per carry and three touchdowns and Andre Brown has a 5.2 yards per carry with the scores. Victor Cruz leads the Giants receivers with 43 catches and six touchdowns, Martellus Bennett has 20 catches and three touchdowns, and Dominic Hixon has found his place with 19 catches. Defensively New York allows 19 points per game, 106.2 rushing yards, and 256.8 passing yards with 11 interceptions and 14 sacks. Antrel Rolle has 35 tackles and two interceptions, Chase Blackburn has 31 tackles, and Michael Boley has 27 tackles and three interceptions. The Giants look primed to make a run at defending the Super Bowl title.

The Washington Redskins seem to be improving but they have yet to find the consistency needed to compete every week in the NFL. QB Robert Griffin III appears to be an emerging star as he has completed 70.2 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and two interceptions and he has rushed for 379 yards and six touchdowns. Alfred Morris has carried the bulk of the time out of the backfield for the Skins averaging 4.6 yards per carry and scoring five touchdowns. Fred Davis is Washington’s leading receiver with 23 catches while Santana Moss, Leonard Hankerson, and Josh Morgan all have 16 catches. Defensively the Redskins allow 28.8 points per game, 88.8 rushing yards, and 328.3 passing yards with eight interceptions and 12 sacks. London Fletcher has 54 tackles, Perry Riley has 49 tackles, and DeAngelo Hall has 44 tackles. The Redskins have shown flashes but they don’t appear to be all the way there yet.

New York is 7-1-1 against the spread following a win, 6-2-1 against the spread in their last nine games against NFC teams, and 6-1-1 against the spread following a game in which they covered the spread. Washington is 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games against the NFC East, 5-2-1 against the spread against in their last eight road games against a team with a winning home record, and 1-5 against the spread following a win. Washington is 2-5-1 against the spread following a win.

NFC East divisional games are usually tough and close and while I have the Giants getting the win, I have the Redskins covering the spread.
