Cleveland Browns vs. San Diego Chargers

The Cleveland Browns and the San Diego Chargers both look for a win as they face off on Sunday in NFL football action.  The Chargers are -3 point favorites over the Browns with an over/under point total set at 45.5.

The Cleveland Browns are undergoing a mid-season overhaul in the front office as the team has been sold and they are hoping to build a winning product on the field in the near future. QB Brandon Weeden is still settling into his role but he is improving completing 56.6 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions while being sacked 11 times. Trent Richardson is showing the signs of being a blooming superstar averaging 3.4 yards per carry with four touchdowns and catching 24 passes with a touchdown and Montario Hardesty is seeing meaning carries averaging 3.8 yards per carry and scoring once. Greg Little leads the Browns’ receivers with 20 catches and two touchdowns, Benjamin Watson has 18 catches and a touchdown, and Josh Gordon has 14 catches and four touchdowns. Defensively Cleveland is allowing 25.7 points per game, 133.7 rushing yards, and 276.9 passing yards with 10 interceptions and 18 sacks. Buster Skrine has 49 tackles, D’Qwell Jackson has 46 tackles and three sacks with two interceptions, and Joe Haden has two interceptions. The Browns have been a few plays away from winning in most of their games this year and it’s just a matter of time until they make those plays.

The San Diego Chargers are licking their wounds as they allowed the Denver Broncos to rally from 24 points down to lose for the third time in a row. Phillip Rivers has completed 66.5 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions while being sacked 18 times and while he is strong armed, he still tends to make bad decisions at key times. Ryan Mathews is averaging 4.5 yards per carry with a touchdown and he has 17 catches out of the backfield. Malcolm Floyd has 25 catches and a touchdown, Ronnie Brown has 20 catches out of the backfield, and Antonio Gates has 19 catches and two touchdowns. The Chargers defense allows 22.8 points per game, 71.2 rushing yards, and 268.2 passing yards with seven interceptions and 10 sacks. Atari Bigby has 41 tackles, Eric Weddle has 33 tackles, and Shaun Phillips has 4.5 sacks. San Diego is sinking fast and they need to regain their footing or Head Coach Norv Turner may not make the season.

Cleveland is 5-0 against the spread following a game which they didn’t cover the spread, 4-9-2 against the spread in their last 15 home games, and 7-3-1 against the spread in their last 11 games overall. San Diego is 4-1 against the spread following a loss, 6-2 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 5-0 against the spread following a double digit home loss. The underdog has covered the spread in four of the last five meetings of these two.

We have a home dog here in what looks to be a close game so taking the points is the best option here.
