Houston Astros vs. Cincinnati Reds

The top and the bottom of the National League Central face off on Saturday as the Houston Astros host the Cincinnati Reds.  The Reds are -160 favorites over the Astros with an over/under run total set at 8.

The Houston Astros are going to finish with the worst record in baseball this season and they added to that cause by losing again Friday. Jason Castro had two hits and Tyler Greene and Jose Altuve each had hits as the Astros scored three runs on nine hits. On the mound starter Fernando Abad allowed nine hits and six runs while lasting just 4.1 innings to take his second loss of the year. For Saturday’s game Houston starts Lucas Harrell who has lost two of his last three decisions. For the season Harrell has allowed 150 hits and 69 earned runs while striking out 113 over 158.1 innings of work for a 3.92 ERA.

The Cincinnati Reds are turning the NL Central into a runaway as they padded their lead on Friday. Brandon Phillips had three hits and Zack Cozart and Jay Bruce each homered as the Reds banged out nine runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Mike Leake allowed seven hits and two runs while striking out six over six innings to raise his record to 7-8 on the season. For Saturday’s game Cincinnati starts Homer Bailey who has lost three of his last four decisions. For the season Bailey has allowed 179 hits and 75 earned runs while striking out 120 over 159.1 innings of work for a 4.24 ERA.

Houston is 21-47 in their last 68 games against the NL Central, 8-49 in their last 57 games overall, and 3-7 in Harrell’s last 10 starts. Cincinnati is 6-1in their last seven road games, 37-15 in their last 52 games overall, and 8-3 in Bailey’s last 11 starts. Cincinnati has won six in a row against Houston.

This one looks like a mismatch but it might also be a pretty decent spot to throw something down on a live dog.
