The Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox face off on Friday for game one of their series at Camden Yards.  The Orioles are -210 favorites over the Red Sox with an over/under run total set at 9.

The Baltimore Orioles are thinking post season and though the American League East may be getting away from them they are still in very good shape for the Wildcard. As a team the Orioles are hitting .249 with Nick Markakis hitting .298, Adam Jones hitting .292, and Chris Davis hitting .267. The Boston Red Sox are going through the motions of closing out the season and while they have the opportunity to play spoiler they have looked like they have been playing much of anything this year. The Red Sox are 4-6 in their last 10 games, 35-40 on the road this season, and they are 21 games back in the AL East. As a team the Red Sox are hitting .263 with Dustin Pedroia and Pedro Ciriaco hitting .289 and Jacoby Ellsbury hitting .277. As a team the Red sox have an ERA of 4.61 with the starters at 5.03 and the bullpen at 3.80. For game one against the Orioles Boston starts Aaron Cook who had a no decision in his last start after allowing five run in 5.1 innings against the Orioles. For the season Cook has allowed 112 hits and 53 earned runs while striking out 20 over 93 innings with a 5.13 ERA.

Baltimore is 7-0 in their last seven games against a right handed starter, 18-5 in their last 23 games following an off day, and 37-18 in their last 55 games overall. Boston is 16-36 in their last 52 games overall, 5-12 in their last 17 road games, and 1-7 in Cook’s last eight starts. Boston is 6-14 in the last 20 meetings of these two.

This one looks like a mismatch because it is as the Orioles are pretty much a lock in this spot.
