The New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles meet on Tuesday for game two of their series at Yankee Stadium.  The Yankees are -185 favorites over the Orioles with an over/under run total set at 9.5.

The New York Yankees have a comfortable lead in the AL East but it got at least a little less comfortable with their loss on Monday. Raul Ibanez, Ichiro Suzuki, and Eric Chavez all homered as the Yankees scored four runs on eight hits. On the mound Freddie Garcia allowed nine hits and three earned runs while striking out two over six innings to fall to 4-5 on the year. For Tuesday’s rematch New York starts Ivan Nova who has lost two of his last three decisions and has had two no decisions in his last two starts. For the season Nova has allowed 139 hits and 58 earned runs while striking out 114 over 128 innings of work for a 4.08 ERA.

The Baltimore Orioles nay have dropped back in the standings but they are still very much in the Wildcard race and they haven’t quit at all. On Monday Wilson Betemit had two hits including a home run, Nick Markakis had three hits, and J.J. Hardy had two hits as the Orioles scored five runs on 13 hits. Starter Miguel Gonzalez allowed Six hits and four runs while striking out eight over 6.2 innings to raise his record to 3-2 and Jim Johnson earned his 31st save. For Tuesday’s game Baltimore starts Chris Tillman who has won three of his four starts this year. For the season Tillman has allowed 18 hits and four earned runs while striking out 17 over 21.2 innings of work for a 1.66 ERA.

New York is 8-4 in their last 12 home games, 3-8 in their last 11 games overall, and 7-0 in Nova’s last seven starts with five days of rest. Baltimore is 6-1 in their last seven road games, 2-4 in their last six games against a right handed starter, and 6-16 in Tillman’s last 22 road starts. New York is 5-2 in Nova’s last seven starts against Baltimore.

The Yankees are struggling and look for them to have more trouble here and the Orioles look like the play at a nice value.
