Philadelphia Phillies vs. Milwaukee Brewers

The Philadelphia Phillies and the Milwaukee Brewers meet on Tuesday for game two of their series in Philadelphia.  The Phillies are -150 favorites over the Brewers with an over/under run total set at 7.5.

The Philadelphia Phillies had the big ninth inning comeback for the win on Monday but for their season it looks to be too late for a comeback. On Monday Ryan Howard had three hits including a home run, Chase Utley homered, and John Mayberry Jr. had two hits as the Phillies scored seven runs on eight hits in all. On the mound starter Roy Halladay allowed eight hits and six earned runs while striking out three over six innings to not factor in the decision as Joe Savery got his first win. For Tuesday game Philadelphia starts Cliff Lee who has great numbers especially for a pitcher who has gone 1-6 on the year. For the season Lee has allowed 107 hits and 46 earned runs while striking out 106 over 111.1 innings of work for a 3.72 ERA.

The Milwaukee Brewers let one get away on Monday as they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Carlos Gomez had two hits including a home run and Aramis Ramirez had two hits and Ryan Braun added a hit as the Brewers scored six runs on eight hits. On the mound Randy Wolf pitched well allowing five hits and two earned runs while striking out five over six innings as Francisco Rodriguez blew the save and took the loss allowing three hits and four runs retiring just two batters in the ninth inning. For Tuesday’s game Milwaukee starts Zack Greinke who was scratched from his last start after getting pounded in his prior start. For the season Greinke has allowed 117 hits and 46 earned runs while striking out 117 over 116 innings of work for a 3.57 ERA.

Philadelphia is 7-14 in their last 21 games overall, 9-20 in their last 29 home games, and 1-7 in Lee’s last eight starts. Milwaukee is 4-10 in their last 14 games as an underdog, 1-5 in their last six road games, and 5-0 in Greinke’s last five starts against the NL East. Milwaukee is 1-5 in the last six meetings of these two.

This looks to be one of those games where either starting pitcher gets a decision but I look for the Phillies to take this one.
