Missouri Tigers vs. Villanova Wildcats

The Villanova Wildcats take on the Missouri Tigers in a Big East versus Big 12 matchup on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.  The Tigers are -5 point favorites over the Wildcats with an over/under point total set at 144.

Thus far this season The Villanova Wildcats aren’t the type of team we have grown accustomed to seeing from them in recent years. Jay Wright’s Wildcats stopped their two game losing skid with an eight point win last time out over Penn. Maalik Wayns is averaging 18.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists, Mouphtaou Yarou is averaging 16.0 points and 8.4 rebounds, Dominic Cheek is averaging 12.9 points and 5.0 rebounds, and James Bell is averaging 9.9 points. As a team Villanova is averaging 76.7 points and they are shooting 44.5 percent while they are allowing 66.3 points and their opposition shoots 40.5 percent. Villanova is a perfect 4-0 at home this season.

The Missouri Tigers are unbeaten and nationally ranked and Frank Haith’s team looks to be a factor in what appears to be a very strong Big 12 this season. Missouri has beaten Notre Dame and Cal in neutral site games but this is their first real road game of the year. Kim English is averaging 16.9 points and 4.4 rebounds, Marcus Denmon is averaging 20.3 points and 5.7 rebounds, Ricardo Ratliffe is averaging 13.9 points and 6.6 rebounds, and Mike Dixon Jr. is averaging 11.6 points. As a team Mizzou is averaging 86.3 points and they are shooting 52.5 percent while their opponents score 58.4 points and shoot 39.2 percent. Missouri has a tough schedule but with some talented and experienced leaders they should have at least a chance to accomplish a lot of goals this season.

Villanova is 6-2 in their last eight games against the Big 12, 1-11 against the spread in their last 12 home games, and 3-18 against the spread in their last 21 games overall. Missouri is 7-2 against the spread in their last nine non-conference games, 1-4 against the spread against the Big East, and 5-2 against the spread following a win.

The total in this is set at 144 a number these two aren’t going to have any trouble passing.  Take the over 144 here.
