Florida St. Seminoles vs. Charleston Southern Buccaneers

The Florida State Seminoles host the Charleston Southern Buccaneers for a college hoops matchup Monday.  The Seminoles are -18.5 point favorites over the Buccaneers with an over/under point total set at 135.

The expectations were sky high for Leonard Hamilton’s Florida State Seminoles this season and while they started with a flurry they have now lost three games in a row. While there hasn’t been a slouch in the group FSU has fallen to, Harvard, UConn, and Michigan State, they were unable to walk away winners against any of them. Michael Snaer is averaging 13.2 points and 4.9 rebounds, Bernard James is averaging 9.8 points and 9.1 rebounds, Deividas Dulkys is averaging 8.4 points, and Okaro White is averaging 7.2 points and 4.6 rebounds. As a team Florida State is averaging 68.8 points and they are shooting 44.8 percent from the floor while their opponents score 58 points per game and shoot 34.4 percent. After a stretch of four away games Florida State returns home where they are undefeated.

The Charleston Southern Buccaneers arrive in Tallahassee as winners of their last five games in a row after taking two losses earlier in the season. Barclay Radebaugh’s team had earlier losses to Kansas State and Wichita State so they are battle tested though they have yet to win on the road. Saah Nimley is averaging 14 points, Kelvin martin is averaging 13.6 points and 8.0 rebounds, Mathiang Muo is averaging 11.4 points and 4.4 rebounds, and Arlon Harper is averaging 10.1 points. As a team Charleston Southern is averaging 81.6 points and they are shooting 44.9 percent  from the floor while defensively they are allowing 71.1 points and their opponents shoot 46.7 percent. In their three losses CSU has scored 67 or less points, in all of their wins they have scored more than 67.

Florida State was dominated last time out by Michigan State losing by 16 but it isn’t Michigan State they are playing here. The line is set at 18.5 but that seems like a coin flip at such a big number, the better play here is over 135.
