Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins look to make it three wins in a row and the Buffalo Bills look to avoid their third consecutive loss as they meet in South Florida.  The Dolphins are -2 point favorites over the Bills with an over/under point total set at 43.

The Miami Dolphins still have one of the worst records in the NFL but their numbers are far from the bottom which could make for an interesting finish to the season. QB Matt Moore is improving each week and is coming off of a 20 for 29 performance last week in a win against Washington. The Miami running game is also getting into gear as Reggie Bush had a big game last week and is averaging 4.6 yards per carry and Daniel Thomas is averaging 3.6 yards per carry gutting out the tough yards. Brandon Marshall has 53 receptions for 742 yards and two touchdowns, Davone Bess has 32 catches, and Brian Hartline has 19 catches. The Dolphins’ defense allows 361.4 yards per game and 19.8 points and they have 23 sacks, six fumble recoveries, and four interceptions. Yeremiah Bell has 66 tackles, Karlos Dansby has 62, and Cameron Wake has 5.5 sacks. This season looks to be a loss for the Dolphins but they will try and go down swinging if they are going down at all.

Through the early part of the season the Buffalo Bills looked like a sure thing to make the playoffs but after losing three of their last four it looks like the Bills are going to need to regroup in a hurry. Ryan Fitzpatrick  has been hurried of late but for the season he has completed 65.3 percent of his passes with 16 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Fred Jackson is near the top of the NFL rushing lists with 917 yards and six touchdowns. Steve Johnson has 44 receptions and four touchdowns and David Nelson has 39 catches and four touchdowns to lead the Buffalo receivers. The Bills’ defense allows 386.9 yards per game and 24.2 points and they have 15 sacks, seven fumble recoveries, and 15 interceptions. George Wilson has 79 tackles, Nick Barnett has 71 tackles, and Marcell Darius has 3.5 sacks. Buffalo has hit a tough part of their schedule and hope to stop the losing here.

Miami is 3-8-1 against the spread in their last 12 games overall, 1-5 against the spread following a win, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four against the AFC East. Buffalo is 5-2 against the spread against a team with a losing record, 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 against the AFC East, and 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five games as an underdog. Buffalo is 9-4-1 against the spread in the last 14 meetings of these two.

Miami is finally playing well and Buffalo is playing poorly. While Miami has won against weak teams Buffalo lost to Dallas, the Jets, and the Giants, three teams with winning records. While Miami may be improving it doesn’t mean they should be favored against a team with a winning record.
