Saints play host to Rams

The New Orleans Saints have won five straight games. The St. Louis Rams are ending a three game road trip with this game against the Saints Sunday. They have won the first two games of the road stretch.

New Orleans trails the Atlanta Falcons by one game in the NFC South Division. This game is one they should win convincingly. Two straight road victories have been by a combined total of seven points. Both wins were secured in the last minute of the games. These final four games of the season look to be a really tough stretch and this game against the Rams is the easiest of the four.

The young Rams have been a surprise this season. Their rookie of the year front runner, quarterback Sam Bradford, has led his team to a tie atop the NFC West Division. They have a 6-6 record and so do the Seattle Seahawks. An impressive 20-3 head to head win earlier this year at home gives them the tie breaker and would put them in the playoffs if they were to start today. Their below par road record does not make their upcoming games appear winnable. This game against the Saints and the last game of the season against the Seahawks could be the deciding factors as to whether the young Rams make the playoffs.

New Orleans has had one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL for over five years now. This season the offense started slow and the defense really stepped in and performed better than expected. The Saints defense has given up a total of nineteen touchdowns this season and has scored thirty three. The big plays they made last year have not been as common but the consistency of stopping opponents and putting the ball back in the hands of quarterback Drew Brees has become common practice.

St. Louis are scoring close to twenty points per game on the road and are giving up just over twenty three points. The statistics support New Orleans coming out of this game on top.
