Who Will Win the NFC South?

The NFC South has been a tumultuous division for several seasons now.  In fact, since the NFL realignment before the 2002 season, no team has repeated as champion.  That might be the case this season as well.  While the New Orleans Saints are in the mix, they definitely have some competition.

Only one team is out of it in the NFC South, and that is the Carolina Panthers.  They may be the worst team in the NFL, and if they didn’t win another game for the season it wouldn’t be surprising.  Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been a surprise team, though they owe that to some less than stiff competition thus far.  Of the three potential contenders for the division, they seem the least likely to win.

That leaves the Saints and the Atlanta Falcons.  The Falcons currently lead the division, but the Saints should not be counted out.  After all, they won the Super Bowl last season.  However, they have dealt with injuries at running back and struggles from Drew Brees.  Meanwhile, the Falcons have looked impressive, particularly at home.  Michael Turner looks healthy running the ball, Matt Ryan is a solid quarterback, and Roddy White is one of the best wide receivers in the league. While the runner up in this division is a good bet to make the playoffs as a wild card, the Falcons, who Sportsbook favors to win the division at -125, will probably emerge atop the NFC South.
