Inside Predictions: Ohio State hosts Maryland in Big 10 Competition

This Saturday, October 10th at 12:00 PM EST, the Big 10 will see the Terrapins travel to face the #1 Buckeyes. The defending National Champions Ohio State, will host Maryland at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. The Maryland Terrapins are  2-3 but, 0-1 in Big 10; their loss to the Michigan Wolverines gave them that not so hot start. The Terrapins are playing in stark contrast to the Ohio State Buckeyes who are 5-0, and 1-0 in the Big 10. The Buckeyes beat the Indiana Hoosiers to get their Big 10 season started on the right foot. Getting back to the Terrapins games against the Wolverines. Maryland went into the game as two touchdown underdogs and showed much better play than most expected. Granted they lost 0-28 but, they were only down by six points well into the third quarter. Their defense was superb, they held the majestic Wolverines at Read More

Inside Prediction: The Razorbacks continue the rivalry with the Crimson Tide

The Alabama Crimson Tide will host the Arkansas Razorbacks at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama this Saturday, October 10th. We’ll have the pleasure of listening to Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge in the booth and Holly Rowe will be working the sidelines during the broadcast. The Tide hold the rivalry high ground at this point. They have won the last eight times they have faced each other, and they have covered the spread five of the last seven times they have met. The Razorbacks are 2-3 and 1-1 in the SEC. They played a great opener against the University of Texas at El Paso Miners, where they won by a smashing 48-13. Then, Arkansas proceeded to lose three games in a row, first to Toledo then Texas Read More

Inside Look: Recap of College Football Week 4

The Michigan Wolverines deserve ALL the limelight for Week 4 recap… let us start by stating that clearly. It’s a funny thing about coaches. The normal ones take a couple years to settle into the team and then start making progress. The exceptional ones hit the team like a tornado and completely remaster whatever is placed in front of them. Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, is an exceptional coach. With this new mastermind coach at the helm, the team looks different. Their offense is still very similar, but stronger. The real difference resides in their new defense. Before, when coaches Rich Rodriguez or Brady Hoke were heading the team, the defense was alright, but not as aggressive. Now they are actually doing honor to their mascot. They look like wild wolverines out there. I don’t know how he’s done it, but Harbaugh has transformed this team. Michigan has averaged 244.3 rushing Read More

Inside Predictions: Georgia Bulldogs host the Alabama Crimson Tide

This Saturday October 3, the Crimson Tide travel to Athens to take on the Bulldogs. This will -no doubt- be one of the more watched NCAA games this weekend, this and, of course, the Notre Dame Clemson game. More than 600 media credentials will be issued to writers, photographers, scouts, and other members of the press and football community. This is by far the biggest SEC game of the year.  Kickoff at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia is scheduled to take place at 3:30 PM Eastern Time. With such a big game on our hands it is not surprising CBS will be broadcasting the game nationwide. The #8 Georgia Bulldogs are 4-0 and first in the Eastern Division. Whereas the #13 Crimson Tide are 3-1, and 5th in the Western Division. Both teams are eager to meet and very equally matched. The Bulldogs are dealing with a bit of a Read More

Inside Predictions: Ohio State Buckeyes vs Indiana Hoosiers

The number-one ranked Ohio State Buckeyes are going on the road to tackle the Indiana Hoosiers. Memorial Stadium in Bloomington Indiana, will see the scheduled kickoff at 3:30 PM Eastern Time, on Saturday October 3rd. Both teams are 4-0 but Ohio is the clear favorite. The Buckeyes are on a 20 game winning streak over Indiana and have a 71-12-5 record overall. Those numbers are incredible and only in possible in the NCAA because of the often-times, unleveled playing field. Regardless this will be a good game to watch. Indiana quarterback Nate Sudfeld is very excited about this game. He is also a great quarterback; he will definitely add some spice to the game. He recently said in an interview, “We expected to be where we are. We don’t want to make Ohio State more than they are. Obviously, when you come to Indiana, you don’t come here just to Read More

Inside Look: NCAAF Stadiums – What’s in a name?

Professional and College sports are made up of several different elements; first and foremost, you have the team of players who are willing –most of the time– to give up blood, sweat and tears for their team. Also of great importance are the coaching and managerial staff, who coordinate everything from the logistics of moving, feeding, and housing a team on the road, to ensuring the players get the appropriate medical treatment they require on and off the playing field. Then you have the fans, loyal, energetic motivators for whom, presumably, these athletes play the game. Now I would like to move on to an element of the game not often discussed: The stadiums. These are the majestic homes of grand sports teams, the places where all is won, or lost. The battleground upon which champions are honored and the vanquished are sadly bid farewell. It seem more and more Read More

Inside Look: College Football Players Should Get Paid!

This is a topic of much debate among college campuses across the country. It starts off simple enough: College athletes are given scholarships that often cover tuition, as well as room and board. They receive payment and should not –in principle- get any more money, as THAT would be unfair to the other students who have to pay their way through higher education, more often than not, unwittingly amassing heaps of debts that they will end up having to pay off for several years to come. When I first heard that side of the argument I was outraged! How can you compare a star quarterback for the University of Michigan, who is generating hundreds of thousands of dollars a year for the school, to an Art History major at UCLA, who isn’t producing squat for the school? It seems absolutely ridiculous. College sports don’t all make money for the schools. Read More

Michigan State: a look into the near future

With a solid 3-0 start to the season, the Spartans jumped from third to first in the power rankings this week. So far this season they have beat Western Michigan, #7 Oregon, and Air Force. Before they take on Central Michigan next week let’s dive right in and see what this team is all about, and more importantly, let us find out if they have what it takes to maintain such a high level of play.

Michigan Wolverines vs. Kansas St. Wildcats

The Michigan Wolverines and the Kansas State Wildcats face off on Saturday in Arizona in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. The Wildcats are -4 point favorites over the Wolverines with an over/under point total set at 55. The Michigan Wolverines had a disappointing year losing four of their last five games including coming up short against Ohio State in their annual rivalry game. Michigan Struggled early against lesser opponents like UConn and Akron and it carried over into their Big Ten schedule. Devin Gardener has completed 60.3 percent of his passes with 21 touchdowns and 11 touchdowns and while he made some big plays he made some horrible decisions as well and he also rushed for 483 yards as he gained 829 rushing yards and lost 346 yards. Gardener is doubtful for this one so it could be Shane Morris under center. Fitzgerald Toussaint has rushed for 723 yards and Read More

Miami Hurricanes vs. Louisville Cardinals

The Miami Hurricanes and the Louisville Cardinals face off on Saturday in the Belk Bowl. The Cardinals are -3.5 point favorites over the Hurricanes with an over/under point total set at 57. The Miami Hurricanes had expectations of going to a bowl game this season and while they may have fallen a bit short of where they had hoped to be, after sitting out the last two years despite being bowl eligible the Canes have to like being back. Stephen Morris has a cannon arm at QB but he seems to go into funks throwing poor passes and making bad decisions while at other times he looks like a QB that is NFL ready. Duke Johnson went down with an injury and since then Dallas Crawford, Gus Edwards, and Eduardo Clements have all pitched in to try and fill the void. Allen Hurns led Miami in receptions with 60 as Read More
