Tony Romo will play Week 17, still presents fantasy risk
Tony Romo will play Sunday for an unknown amount of time. We take a look at the fantasy implications.
The Dallas Cowboys are playing for a win that will likely not do much for the postseason implications. In order to change their playoff seeding, the Cowboys need to win and need the St. Louis Rams to beat the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers to beat the Arizona Cardinals. It’s a long shot. Still, Dallas has opted to start quarterback Tony Romo.
Romo has been playing at a high level, especially down the stretch. The Cowboys are finally in a great situation for the month of December. No matter what, they’re in the playoffs. It wouldn’t be surprising if Romo only sees a few series Sunday before being rested for the postseason.
Fantasy impact: If Romo can do some damage against Washington early, fantasy owners are likely to see his fantasy production stall out from that point on. There’s no telling exactly what Dallas will do with Romo’s workload, but it’s certainly a risky situation. If there are better alternatives out there, they may be worth pursuing. However, there are a lot of backup quarterbacks taking this field in Week 17. Romo may still be one of the better options.
