Seahawks vs. Eagles 2014: Online streaming, time and TV schedule
Two contenders square off in a contest loaded with NFC playoff ramifications.
Two weeks ago, the Seattle Seahawks left Arrowhead Stadium following a 24-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in danger of missing the playoffs with a 6-4 record. Fast forward to the present, and Seattle is 8-4 with wins over the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals, and just one game back of the NFC West lead. On Sunday, Seattle hopes to keep rolling against a Philadelphia Eagles team that dispatched the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day to take a firm grip on the NFC East.
The Seahawks have been suffocating defensively over the past two games, allowing a combined six points. Seattle’s defense was expected to struggle with Brandon Mebane out for the season with a torn hamstring, but the rest of the unit has met the challenge. Richard Sherman has been playing his best ball lately, intercepting Colin Kaepernick twice last week. Behind a resurgent defense and a powerful ground attack that averages a league-high 168.6 yards per game behind Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch, the Seahawks are firing on all cylinders.
Philadelphia has also risen above a key injury to maintain playoff contender status. The Eagles lost Nick Foles for two months with a broken clavicle during a Week 9 win over the Houston Texans. Since then, backup Mark Sanchez has led Philadelphia to a 3-1 record including a 33-10 whitewashing of the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. Sanchez has better than competent. At times, he has been excellent, eclipsing 300 yards three times while throwing for eight touchdowns. Turnovers are still a major issue, however, with six interceptions and another half-dozen fumbles.
With the regular season winding down, a win over the Seahawks would almost assure the Eagles of an NFC East crown. With a win, Philadelphia would be at least a game up on the Cowboys and hold the tiebreaker with three games remaining. The Eagles host the Cowboys in Week 15 with a chance to clinch should they topple the defending champs.
