Rutgers players and coaches honor fallen police officers with NYPD hats

Gary Nova and others are showing their support during the Quick Lane Bowl.

Quarterback Gary Nova and other members of the Rutgers team and coaching staff are sporting NYPD hats on the sidelines of the Quick Lane Bowl, a tribute to the two police officers shot to death in Brooklyn last week.

During his Tuesday press conference, Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood, whose brother works for New York City’s equivalent of a SWAT team, honored the fallen officers with a patch, telling NJ.com he wanted to “support them in whatever way I could.”
