Philip Rivers returns to practice, will be a fantasy option in Week 16
Philip Rivers is back at practice and will be ready for San Diego’s game on Saturday. We break down the fantasy implications.
San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers returned to practice Thursday, and was listed as a full participant. Rivers sat out of practice on Tuesday and Wednesday with a back injury, but he’s expected to be ready on Saturday for San Diego’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Rivers has been dealing with minor injuries for most of this year, but he has yet to miss a game. He will not miss this one either, with the 8-6 Chargers clinging to slim wild card hopes. Rivers has thrown 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions on the season while completing 67.6 percent of his passes.
Fantasy impact: The Chargers are depleted on offense. Wide receiver Keenan Allen is done for the year with a broken collarbone, while Ryan Mathews will likely miss another game with an ankle injury. Those issues, combined with Rivers’ turnover problems (five interceptions in the past four games), make him a borderline QB1 for the fantasy finals against the 49ers defense. Start him at your own risk.
