Percy Harvin active vs. Titans
Percy Harvin’s ankle injury won’t force him out of against the Tennessee Titans.
New York Jets wide receiver Percy Harvin is officially active Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. Harvin is dealing with an ankle injury and was listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report. He missed practice on Wednesday and was a limited participant on Thursday and Friday. At the time, he said he should be ready to play for Sunday’s game but there was always doubt.
Harvin’s injury was initially thought to be worse than it has turned out to be, with head coach Rex Ryan saying it could potentially be a multi-week issue earlier on in the process. Whatever the case, he’ll be good to go against a Titans team that has lost seven consecutive games and is ranked 19th in the league in pass defense.
On the season, Harvin has 47 receptions for 439 yards and a touchdown, with another 191 yards and a touchdown on the ground. He’s coming off a big game against the Minnesota Vikings, in which he caught six passes for 124 yards and a touchdown.
Harvin has been decent since the Jets traded for him, but consistent numbers have eluded him thanks to the quarterback position, currently manned by Geno Smith. The Jets aren’t going to put up huge passing numbers most weeks, which calls into question Harvin’s value for the franchise, given that the Jets are certainly looking at a rebuild this offseason. That’s why we’re already starting to get reports that Harvin could find himself available in free agency this offseason.
