NHL schedule 2014: New-look Devils try to end Rangers streak

After a week full of coaching changes, New Jersey will attempt to right the ship against a Rangers squad aiming for its eighth straight victory. Elsewhere, the Stars travel to St. Louis for a Central Division battle.

After a three-day Christmas break, the NHL is back in full force with 13 games Saturday. The surging New York Rangers go for an eighth straight victory, hosting the New Jersey Devils at Madison Square Garden.

The Rangers (18-10-4) have won seven straight games, outscoring opponents 24 goals to 10 during that span. New York is 11-5-3 at home this season and have won six of their last seven games at Madison Square Garden. The Devils (12-17-7) have lost seven of their last eight games, and are 8-11-3 on the road this season.

Out west, the Los Angeles Kings (17-11-7) host the San Jose Sharks (19-11-5) in a rematch of last year’s first-round playoff matchup. The Kings are 13-4-2 at home this season, though one of those losses was a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Sharks Oct. 8 at Staples Center.

The Sharks and Kings start at 10 p.m. ET, the second of two games on NBC Sports Network Saturday, preceded by the Washington Capitals (17-11-6) visiting the Pittsburgh Penguins (22-7-5) at 7:30 p.m.
