NHL Friday: Red Wings look for offensive boost against Islanders

Detroit has only scored four goals in its last four games. It’ll take more than that to take down the Isles on Friday.

Two NHL heavyweights continue coastal road swings while an important Eastern Conference matchup takes place in the Motor City Friday.

The New York Islanders visit Detroit Friday evening in a battle between two of the Eastern Conference’s best teams this season. The Red Wings come into the game tied with the Isles in the conference at 42 points and boast a sparkling 11-3-5 record at home. The difference between the two clubs is their play after regulation. New York is a perfect 6-0 in shootouts this season while the Red Wings are just 1-6.

Elsewhere, the Ducks will look to improve their league-best record against the Ottawa Senators. But the Senators should prove to be a tough out, as they’ve won two straight and just finished an undefeated road trip. Meanwhile, the Bruins try to turn their fortunes around against the surprising Winnipeg Jets in Manitoba.
