NFL picks and predictions, Rams vs. Washington 2014: Experts like St. Louis on the road

A loss to the Rams would extend Washington’s losing streak to five straight.

Washington went winless for the entire month of November. Now back home after playing four of five games on the road, it’ll need to upset the St. Louis Rams in order to start out December on a better foot.

St. Louis landed in the center of controversy following the “hands up, don’t shoot” protest put on by multiple Rams players last week. The St. Louis Police Officers Association criticized the participants and the team for the display and demanded a public apology. The NFL declined to punish the players, though the team may or may not have apologized to the association. Regardless, the Rams have won three of their last five games, including a win over the heavily favored Denver Broncos in Week 11. The defense has come together during that stretch with rookie defensive tackle Aaron Donald playing like a Pro Bowler.

On the other side, little has gone well in Washington as of late. Head coach Jay Gruden has done all he can to run RGIII out of town, including starting journeyman Colt McCoy at quarterback last week. Though McCoy put up 392 yards, Washington still lost by 22 points. The team’s performance has declined so steeply that it’s fair to question whether Gruden might be one and done in D.C.

Most of the experts are picking the Rams this week. Seven of CBS Sports‘ eight-man panel sided with them over Washington, while ESPN’s crew unanimously believes the visiting team will win.

Here at SB Nation, all but two of our experts are leaning toward the Rams.
