NFL picks and predictions, Browns vs. Ravens 2014: Baltimore tries to keep playoff hopes alive

Connor Shaw will make his first NFL start this week with Johnny Manziel on IR and Brian Hoyer doubtful to play with a shoulder injury.

The Baltimore Ravens will have one more shot to potentially clinch a playoff berth when they host the Cleveland Browns in Week 17. In order for Baltimore to make it to the postseason, the team has to win its home finale over Cleveland, then hope the San Diego Chargers lose to the Kansas City Chiefs.

If the Ravens lose or the Chargers win, that ends Baltimore’s playoff hopes. They enter this game at 9-6 following their Week 16 loss to the Houston Texans. The Browns enter at 7-8 having lost their last four games and five of their previous six. Cleveland will also be going with a new starting quarterback after losing both Johnny Manziel and Brian Hoyer to injury during last week’s loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Undrafted free agent Connor Shaw will make his first NFL start this week with Manziel on injured reserve and Hoyer doubtful to play with a shoulder injury. The Ravens’ pass defense ranks 28th leading into this game, so it wouldn’t be completely unexpected if Shaw has a successful first outing.

So, what are the experts saying about this game?

It’s all Baltimore for CBS Sports‘ eight-man panel, as they went with the Ravens in a clean sweep. As for ESPN, all 13 of their experts went with the Ravens as well.

Things are also one-sided here at SB Nation. All eight of our experts are leaning toward Baltimore.
