LeGarrette Blount practices on Wednesday, likely to play for fantasy owners

The Patriots’ running back is back at practice. We break down the fantasy implications.

New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday, according to Jeff Howe of The Boston Herald. Blount notched 8 carries for 17 yards and a touchdown in last week’s win over the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Impact: It sounds as if Blount will indeed play against the New York Jets in Week 16. While that’s good news for fantasy owners, whether or not he posts big time numbers that are worthy of a start as championship games approach is up for debate.

The tricky part about anybody in the Patriots’ backfield has always been the same. The fact is in Bill Billecheck’s offense, nobody knows who the star running back is going to be.

Shane Vereen, Jonas, Gray, Stevan Ridley, Brandon Bolden and Blount have all had notable performances this season.

Fantasy owners who have to lean on a Patriots running back will likely get more out of Gray than Blount this week due to the fact Gray out-touched his teammate last week. Those who really want to start Blount will likely be able to do so, at least from a health standpoint.
