Keenan Allen misses practice Wednesday, fantasy season likely done

The Chargers’ receiver is likely done for the season. We break down the fantasy implications.

San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen (broken collarbone, ankle) did not practice on Wednesday, according to Rotoworld.com. He isn’t expected to play again in 2014.

Fantasy Impact: Allen suffered the injury last week against the Denver Broncos. After putting together a spectacular 2013 rookie campaign, he’s struggled to find the magic that he captured last year. From that standpoint it’s almost fitting that his year would be cut short by an unfortunate injury.

That said, Allen appeared to be poised to put together a way better second half of the season, but in the last two weeks he battled not just the broken collarbone, but also his ankle, so things slowed down production wise.

The Chargers face a very good San Francisco 49ers secondary unit coming up in Week 16, so fantasy owners looking to replace Allen in the lineup will have to look at Antonio Gates or Malcolm Floyd as the go-to guys in San Diego. Eddie Royal will also see an uptick in value.
