Keenan Allen has broken collarbone, fantasy season is over
Allen broke his collarbone in Week 15 and his season is over. We break down the fantasy implications.
San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen suffered a broken collarbone and ankle injury in Week 15. His season is most likely over, although the Chargers have yet to officially rule him out for Saturday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Allen had an MRI Monday to confirm both the collarbone and ankle injuries. The Chargers haven’t placed him on injured reserve, indicating that they hope to have him back in time for a playoff run. That seems unlikely, since broken collarbones typically take several months to heal. Allen will finish his season with 77 catches for 783 yards and four touchdowns.
Fantasy impact: Allen is obviously not practicing this week. Look for the Chargers to rule him out over the next couple days. His 2014 was disappointing compared to a red-hot rookie season, but Allen was coming on strong in recent weeks. Still only 22 years old, Allen is a solid keeper option and should go in the upper rounds of 2015 drafts next August.
