Julius Thomas injury update: Broncos’ TE practices fully, could help fantasy owners this week

The Broncos’ dormant passing game could become active again with a healthy Julius Thomas. We break down the fantasy implications.

Denver Broncos tight end Julius Thomas practiced fully throughout the week and will play versus the Cincinnati Bengals Monday night.

Thomas has not been himself lately, dealing with an ankle injury that has limited him since Week 11. However, this latest week of full practice is the most encouraging news coming from his end in a while, and indicates he could be back to his usual, dominant presence between the hashes. Thomas had full practice sessions in preparation for the team’s Week 15 game, though he began that week as limited.

Fantasy Spin: Despite this encouraging news, fantasy owners would still be taking a calculated risk in starting Thomas this week during the fantasy finals. However, with the tight end position as barren as it is, Thomas’ upside makes him a worthwhile start over the uninspiring alternatives in the waiver pool. “Orange Julius” remains a TE1 this week, but mostly by default.
