Julio Jones misses another practice; fantasy status unclear

Julio Jones missed practice with a hip injury for the second consecutive day. We break down the fantasy implications.

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones missed practice again on Thursday. Jones is dealing with a hip injury, though head coach Mike Smith said that there is a “good chance” he is able to play in Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jones is not the kind of receiver who needs to practice every day to be ready for a game, but he will likely be a game-time decision, if Smith is to be believed.

Jones left Monday’s game against the Green Bay Packers late, after putting up big numbers. He caught 11 passes for 259 yards and a touchdown before going down with the injury. That was a season high for yards, with his previous high coming in Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals, when he compiled 189 receiving yards. He’s playing incredible football at this point.

Fantasy Impact: Jones is a must-start this week if there’s a big chance he plays. Unfortunately, it’s unclear if he’ll be able to go. The Falcons play the Steelers in an early game on Sunday, so fantasy owners should keep an eye out in the morning.
