Julian Edelman injury update: Concussed WR uncertain to suit up for Patriots, fantasy owners

The Patriots could be without their slot receiver for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. We break down the fantasy implications.

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is listed as questionable for the team’s matchup with the New York Jets Sunday.

Edelman has been dealing with lingering effects of a concussion, and it has yet be revealed if he has been cleared for game action. Though he was able to practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at a limited basis, there is no guarantee he will suit up due to the inherently unpredictable nature of his injury.

Fantasy Spin: The good news for fantasy owners is that they will know Edelman’s status before it’s too late, since the Patriots will play in the 1 p.m. slate of games. Should he be cleared, Edelman is immediately a WR2 option versus the Jets‘ invisible secondary. If he sits, Brandon LaFell’s ceiling increases significantly and would make for a preferred flex option. Danny Amendola could see an increased workload as well, but he isn’t on the fantasy radar.
