Jimmy Clausen out with concussion, Jay Cutler back on the fantasy radar
The Bears will be turning back to Jay Cutler after all. We break down the fantasy implications.
Chicago Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen was diagnosed with a concussion and has already been ruled out of next week’s game. Jay Cutler will get the start for the season finale against the Minnesota Vikings.
Clausen suffered the concussion during last Sunday’s loss to the Detroit Lions. He took a vicious helmet-to-helmet shot from Ziggy Ansah, but stayed in the entire game. Clausen later went to the hospital that evening. He finished the game with 181 yards, two touchdowns and an interception on 23-for-39 passing. Clausen was going to start the final two games with Cutler benched, but Cutler gets another chance.
Fantasy impact: I wrote last week that it’s safe to drop Cutler in re-draft leagues, but suddenly he’s back on the radar. The Bears last played the Vikings in Week 11, where Cutler lit them up for 330 yards and three touchdowns, although he threw two picks. Cutler will be a borderline QB1 in standard fantasy leagues and should be a decent bargain in daily streaming formats.
