Good morning. Rajon Rondo actually got traded!
Good morning. It finally happened: the Celtics traded Rajon Rondo. The mercurial, enigmatic, quicksilver point guard is off to the Mavericks in exchange for Brandan Wright, Jameer Nelson, Jae Crowder, a protected 2015 first and a future second. This caps off eight full years and 29 serious trade rumors involving Rondo, none of which came true … until one did.
The next question is what this means for the rest of the trade market. The Rockets seemed to be in the hottest pursuit of Rondo outside of Dallas, and you get the feeling Daryl Morey isn’t going to be comfortable riding Patrick Beverley and Isaiah Canaan into a postseason rife with expectation. The Lakers and Kings were also mentioned; the odds of Sacramento giving up Ben McLemore in any deal are dropping rapidly and the Lakers have so little of value to move. It will be an interesting if uneventful trade season with this blockbuster off the table.
Alright. Let’s basketball.
