Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 17: Zach Ertz has huge yardage

The Philadelphia tight end ran all over the field Saturday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz had a big game Saturday, setting a career-high in yardage. The effort came in the Eagles’ 27-24 loss to Washington.

Ertz was targeted 18 times in the game, hauling in 15 of them for 115 yards. He was the team leader in receiving yards, more than 50 yards better than wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. It was the third game this season of double-digit fantasy production for Ertz, though his first since Week 6.

Fantasy impact: Ertz was a hot under-the-radar pick early in the season, and after 21 fantasy points in Weeks 1 and 2, it looked even better. After that the tight end fell by the wayside, however, and was barely fantasy-relevant for much of the middle of the season. He’s bounced back lately, with nine, three and 11 fantasy points over the last three weeks.

In a Week 17 fantasy finals, Ertz is by no means an exciting tight-end option, but he offers enough potential that he’s not bad in a pinch.
