Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 17: Charlie Whitehurst still off the radar
Whitehurst played well on Thursday night, but it’s still not enough to warrant serious consideration in most leagues. We break down the fantasy implications.
Charlie Whitehurst completed 24 of 35 passes for 287 yards and a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16. He opened up the game completing his first six passes for 71 yards and a score on the Tennessee Titans‘ first drive, but he didn’t manage to find the end zone the rest of the night.
Overall it was a decent display for Whitehurst. His receivers weren’t the most helpful at times, and the Titans once again didn’t provide much a ground game to support the offense. Whitehurst played far better than what he showed us in Week 15.
Fantasy impact: While it was nice to see him exceed expectations to an extent, Whitehurst is still off most fantasy radars. A perennial backup working with a mediocre receiving corps and no run game is not exactly an enticing fantasy scenario.
The Titans face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17. Whitehurst finished with 177 yards, one touchdown and a pick against the Colts in Week 4. He shouldn’t be in consideration for any lineup for owners playing in the final week of the regular season.
