Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 16: Knile Davis goes off

The Kansas City running back scored twice Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

After three straight games of zero fantasy points, and nine total yards from scrimmage in that time, Kansas City Chiefs running back Knile Davis had a huge game Sunday. He scored twice as the Chiefs beat the Oakland Raiders, 31-13.

Davis ran the ball nine times Sunday for 11 yards and a touchdown, and caught a 70-yard touchdown pass. That was good for 20 fantasy points, Davis’ most since he scored 21 in Week 2. He had five total fantasy in the last six games combined before Sunday.

Fantasy impact: Ultimately, Davis’ work Sunday only served to wreck any value for No. 1 running back Jamaal Charles, who had 52 rushing yards and 1 receiving yard, but no scores. His rushing touchdown came as Charles took a breather, and his receiving touchdown came on a third-and-11 play that wasn’t expected to yield nearly as big a return.

Ultimately, Davis has minimal fantasy value for anyone but Charles’ owners, as the star running back will still get the work going forward. Even with 20 fantasy points under his belt, he’s a handcuff, nothing more.
