Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 16: Donte Moncrief held without a catch vs. Texans

Donte Moncrief offered zero production for fantasy owners in Week 15. We take a look at his fantasy value moving forward.

It was a rough outing for the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday despite their victory over the Houston Texans. Donte Moncrief might have been the day’s biggest victim. Moncrief was targeted four times but caught zero passes for the afternoon.

It’s worth noting that Moncrief’s numbers on the box score would have been much different if not for a penalty. Andrew Luck connected with Moncrief for a 48-yard touchdown late in the second quarter, but it was nullified due to offensive holding. The Colts face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16.

Fantasy impact: Fantasy owners who plugged Moncrief into their lineups out of desperation were left with nothing to show for it. Moncrief has incredible upside, but there are too many mouths to feed in Indianapolis. There’s simply no telling who will step up on any given week. The fact that Hakeem Nicks scored a touchdown only further proves this point.

That said, Moncrief will remain a desperation WR4 play. He’s an extremely risky boom-or-bust option on any given week. Moncrief will be an intriguing option heading into 2015, but he’s not worth the trouble during the playoffs in re-draft leagues.
