Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 15: Mychal Rivera heats up

Mychal Rivera bounced back against the 49ers in Week 14. We take a look at his fantasy value moving forward.

After cooling off for several weeks, Mychal Rivera bounced back with impressive numbers on Sunday. Rivera caught all seven of his targets for 109 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Derek Carr was efficient, leading the Oakland Raiders to a win over the San Francisco 49ers. Rivera was constantly open in the middle of the field, allowing Carr to manage multiple short and intermediate passes to his tight end.

Rivera went through an impressive stretch in Weeks 8 through 10, but wasn’t much of a factor until Sunday’s game. Rivera isn’t extremely talented, but Carr has leaned on him constantly. As inconsistent as Oakland’s offense is, it’s difficult to expect Rivera to be a constant producer on the field.

Fantasy impact: For the past several weeks, Rivera was barely grasping at fantasy relevance even in PPR formats. Sunday’s game was just a reminder that he’s capable of big numbers every once in a while. He’s a plug-and-play option for the remainder of the season.

The Raiders face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15. The last time Rivera played against the Chiefs, he caught just one pass for eight yards. He’ll be difficult to trust during the fantasy playoffs.
