Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 15: Kerwynn Williams leads Cardinals backfield again

The Cardinals looked to Williams to continue carrying part of the load in the backfield in Week 14. We break down the fantasy implications.

For the second week in a row Kerwynn Williams led the Arizona Cardinals in rushing. He finished Thursday night’s game with 15 carries for 75 yards and two receptions against the St. Louis Rams.

Williams picked up the majority of his yardage for Week 15 in the second half, breaking off runs of 19 and 12 yards after halftime. The Cardinals kept him in late in the game when they were trying to run out the clock.

Fantasy impact: That’s a 10-point night in PPR scoring. Williams has brought new life to the Cardinals rushing attack after being called up from the practice squad just a week ago. Stepfan Taylor rushed for 61 yards on 14 carries. Drew Stanton left the game with a knee injury, so Arizona stuck with the run game as it was forced to play with its third-string quarterback.

Williams will face another tough matchup next week against the Seattle Seahawks. Stanton was carted off the field on Thursday night, which does not bode well for his chances of playing in Week 16. Williams will likely be asked to take on close to 15 touches again. He’s worth a flex play, but the Seattle defense will not be worried about the pass if Ryan Lindley is under center. Tread lightly.
