Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 15: Kerwynn Williams emerges as lead Cardinals RB

Kerwynn Williams came out of nowhere with Andre Ellington out for the season. We take a look at his fantasy value moving forward.

Many wondered who would fill in for Andre Ellington. Stepfan Taylor was announced as the starter, and Marion Grice was expected to see his fair share of carries while the Arizona Cardinals were expected to ride the hot hand. The hot hand turned out to Kerwynn Williams, an undrafted player who bounced between the San Diego Chargers and Indianapolis Colts in 2013. He was scooped up by the Cardinals and signed off their practice squad days ago.

Williams rushed for 100 yards on 19 carries Sunday afternoon. In comparison, Taylor rushed for just 19 yards on six carries and Grice saw just three carries for 6

Fantasy impact: One game isn’t a lot to work with, but one thing is for sure: Williams deserves the workload until he proves otherwise. He didn’t break out for any huge gains, but he was able to grind at the Kansas City Chiefs with 5.8 YPC. Before grabbing Williams off your waiver wire, consider that he has a tough stretch of defenses moving forward.

Williams will be a flex option against the St. Louis Rams in Week 15. Hopefully fantasy owners who have advanced to the playoffs have more secure options at this point in the season.
