Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 15: James Starks makes his mark

Green Bay Packers running back James Starks doesn’t get a lot of opportunity to shine, especially with Eddie Lacy staying healthy and playing well. He did, however, make his mark in the win over the Atlanta Falcons on “Monday Night Football”. We bring you the fantasy implications.

Green Bay Packers running back James Starks doesn’t get a lot of opportunities these days, but he did make the most of them in his team’s win over the Atlanta Falcons Monday. Starks carried the ball 10 times for 75 yards and a touchdown as the Packers rolled over the Falcons, 43-37.

The game was all Packers early on, but the Falcons mounted a fierce comeback in the second half. The Packers’ defense was able to hold them off in large part because Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones was out of the game with a hip injury. On the final clock-draining drive, the Packers went entirely with Starks.

Eddie Lacy finished with 13 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown while catching five passes for 33 yards and a touchdown. Starks got looks in the passing game as well and caught both targets for 26 yards.

Fantasy impact: Starks doesn’t see much playing time with Eddie Lacy performing so well right now but it’s nice to see he can still do work. Lacy should continue to get the bulk of the carries, but Starks’ numbers were good and the Packers could opt to split carries the remainder of the season to keep everyone relative fresh for the playoffs. Come Week 15, the Packers will face the Buffalo Bills, who are giving up the third least fantasy points to running backs.
