Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 15: Is Shane Vereen droppable?

The Patriots aren’t turning to Vereen much since LeGarrette Blount came on board. We break down the fantasy implications.

Week 14 was another disappointing week for Shane Vereen. He finished Sunday night’s game against the San Diego Chargers with three receptions for 30 yards and only a single carry out of the backfield.

LeGarrette Blount dominated the touches with 20 carries. Jonas Gray finished with two touches on the night. Vereen managed to see one target in the red zone, but he couldn’t make the catch.

Fantasy impact: Vereen caught one pass last week against the Green Bay Packers. The New England Patriots are clearly favoring other options in recent weeks, and Vereen has had little to show for his playing time.

Vereen’s value is entirely based on how each game plays out. If Bill Belichick feels like the offense is moving well with him in, Vereen could take control of the touches. But that’s a “what if” scenario fantasy owners should look to avoid. Vereen is a low-end flex play going forward. It might not be quite time to drop him in PPR leagues, but we’re not far away from that point.
